all we ever wanted... (was everything)

guccigoth:

Thee Physical is a sharpening and defining of the concepts Travis Egedy has written about on his blog Plain Pictures, ten chapters that echo back to the early days of house while still retaining Egedy’s raw edge that he established with his previous work Dark Rifts. The secret to personal salvation is at hand, through a medium of body modification and black nail polish. “We can heal ourselves, changing our reality right” sings Egedy, the prophet of the Now. Thumping beats and diva vocals form his choir, each hymn falling into place like stepping-stones that lead us across the ever-changing currents of culture. Through touch we find the medium to allow ourselves to transform - “The body. Your desire. Thee new desire. The burn. What does it feel like to feel? Touch your every desire. The human body/humanity understanding new forms of communication.” This is the manifesto.

The words ‘post-physical’: what does it mean to exist without body, pure thought, mind-to-mind? Egedy does not spell it out, instead extending the metaphorical hand to guide you to a better perception of spatial/spiritual connections outside the prison of flesh. But while skin is the mediator of sensation, festishism is the product of the mind. How to escape our natural desires? The answer is not to shun these needs, but embrace them, techno as a talisman. surrendering to the pulse that defines us and in doing so allowing ourselves to be redefined. With our new clarity all things become real, and real is a feeling. We become trancegendered, effortless, genderless. Female vocals from Nika Danilova, male vocals from Egedy: the two united, becoming one audio sexless manifestation, a free thing that we perceive directly, without touch but touching us as a beat, as a feeling. We take it into ourselves, we move with it, never allowing ourselves to be a slave to permanance, to the negative stillness. A constant flux, a fixation of change that we must master before we can experience the collective touch: Man, rule thy Thought!

Even as he conceptualizes our current-future reality, Egedy aknowledges and relishes the joy of being, of was, of sensations that we still should experience, must experience: sweat, breath, feeling me feeling you. A power we all know. Thee Physical is not a book of the law but a book of the life: the mind of and behind the Universe. The pictures are plain to see now, the concepts made clear. It comes not as a text but as sub-underground audio bass. BPMessiah he is not, however: Egedy is as flesh in the manner of you or I, but his message is one of infinite form. Allow yourself to feel it.
